Academic Calendar — Official Dates

Academic Structure
Calendar Framework
Lake Zone Polytechnic Institute operates on a two-semester academic year aligned with the Tanzania National Examinations Council (NECTA) and VETA calendars. The outline below describes the key events within each academic year.
Semester Commencement Dates
Official start dates for each semester are confirmed by the Academics & Registry Office prior to the intake period.
Mid-Semester Examinations
Mid-semester assessment dates are issued by the Registry at the beginning of each semester.
End-of-Semester Examinations
Examination timetables are published by the Registry Office no later than four weeks before the examination period.
Results Release
Final results are released through the Student Portal and Registry Office following the completion of examinations and board approval.
Registration & Add/Drop Period
Course registration and add/drop deadlines are communicated at the beginning of each semester via the Registry Office.
Public Holidays & Institute Closures
The Institute observes all Tanzania national public holidays. Any additional closures are announced via official notice boards and the website.
Open Day & Special Events
Open Days, graduation ceremonies, and special institute events are announced through the News & Events section of this website and official notice boards.
February & September Intakes
Lake Zone Polytechnic Institute accepts students in two main intakes per year — February and September. Specific dates for each intake are confirmed by the Admissions Office.
